The White

A sinking feeling in my gut.
A yawning hole in my chest.

Press it down. Hold it in.

Blood leeching from my face.

Eyes that ache for moisture.

Press it down. Hold it in.

Panicked breaths and furrowed brows.

Worry spreading through my veins.

Press it down. Hold it in.

A quiet chant, "it's alright."

A plaguing whisper, "rejection."

Press it down. Hold it in.

The pressure is building.

A silent scream in my ears.

Press it down. Hold it in.

Open up a blank page.

Get lost in the white.

Release.

Loose Threads

My once upon a daydream,
You're stuck inside my head.
Though I try sifting my memories,
My mind retains a thread.
Awake I am in control,
But in dreaming you still linger.
Questions left unanswered,
Are all that's left of you here.
I wrote our happy ending,
Before the journey started.
Then clung to what ifs and maybes,
Even when you departed.
Your face remains a secret,
Kept inside my soul.
But I fear the void inside me,
Will never be made whole.
I know you weren't my answer,
But my heart deserves the truth.
Silently I keep on asking,
Did you love me too?

Before

(Song for Breatheless)

Before my heart breaks, before I'm lost

Before the tears fall, from how it hurts

Before you matter to me, before you're mine

Before my world falls down around me when you're gone

I'm going to stop this now, before it goes to far

Build my defenses, to keep us apart

Wall up my feelings, and watch them die

Keep you from ever making me cry

I'm on my own, 'cause it's all I know

I'm on my own, 'cause it's all I know

Before you mold me, to what you want

Before all I see about me, is what I'm not

Before I need you, to be strong

Before I don't know what it feels like to be alone

I'm going to stop this now, before it goes to far

Build my defenses, to keep us apart

Wall up my feelings, and watch them die

Keep you from ever making me cry

I'm on my own, 'cause it's all I know

I'm on my own, 'cause it's all I know

  1. The poem that I wrote to start it all - it was the inspiration for the early beginnings of my book "Forgetting Me"

  2. The song I wrote while developing Bailey's character in Breatheless and I think it might actually be incorporated into one of the chapters. I have a rough recording of the actual song but I think I'll record a legit one (if Steve will hook me up) and post it on here.
